horribly mangled body - fortress any Shianti can teleport into but is free of nosy Kai lordsVERSUS - giant fortress any Shianti can teleport into as well in the middle of Ruel - an Exterminus tapestry that just ruins your whole throne room whenever a Kai lord visits- opulent lodging that seems cramped somehow, compared to a whole Empire ... and is full of vermin- and the ability to summon giant disgusting rat-creatures to slay errant Kai Lords that compare to Jahksas exactly how? ;D So, HA! [/ul] "Ha!" indeed ... Apart from all that, I prefer being my own master every day - but you are of course entitled to bow to whomever you want ... The Wytch-King, who seems to be a favourite target of all those youngsters around here *scratches head*
Yeah, you've got me beat all right . . . Immortal horribly mangled body which prolongs your pain from your burn wounds and hideously scarred face FOR ETERNITY?
Fortress which DOESN'T have a falling bridge to randomly crush intruders, often after they think they've passed the hardest part?
Fortress into which a Shianti actually DID teleport into, instead of one that's far enough away that their teleportation skills might not cut it?
And wait, what do you have instead of the Exterminus? What's that? I can't quite hear you . . . Old women with glowing rocks? Huh?
An empire, you say? An empire just across the sea from the Shianti stronghold, brimming with renegade Wytch candidates, hordes of Masbate, incompetent merchants, the Freedom Guild, and Chaksu? As opposed to my loyal druids, Acolytes of Vashna, and lovable Vazhag?
And this Jahksa, you say, the one that was vastly more powerful than his opponent in pretty much every way, but stupidly postponed his victory until his opponent had a chance? Yeah, GOOD servant . . . Why don't you just send some more of those incompetent Shadakine guards, you know, the ones that couldn't beat a couple of knights, a fat merchant, a girl, and a boy with a stick.
And your own master, you say . . . I seem to recall a certain Wytch-King with a fiery portal to a certain Dammed being's desolate realm . . . Tell us about why THAT was there, again.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go interview potential replacements for Cordask. Maybe you can send that Jahksa over . . . if he can write.

Yeah, a war between evil creatures of Naar! During the time they fight each other, the good people of Magnamund are going to live in peace for a while.

@ Black Cat: You really, really don't want to see the fallout of such a war ... especially as you are our neighbours ... BTW, this is just a polite conversation between Cadak and me ... À propos Cadak: [/ul] Jealous? [/ul] Where is it said that I don't have such a bridge? Of course, whoever teleports in wouldn't encounter it ... [/ul] Far enough away? That boy didn't teleport in from the Isle of Lorn, in case you didn't notice ... And fewer Shianti have a Moonstone (necessary for teleporting) than Kai lords have feet ... [/ul] They, at least, can carry a conversation ... and don't clumsily ruin my throne room ... ;D [/ul] Better than a little forest beset by foes on all sides, brimming with incompetent fools that can't even do your work for you, scattered remnants of a used army, no merchants at all, no pet rebels to toy with in your spare time, and a scribe that cannot even flee if attacked by a stronger opponent ... And of course I have no use for uncontrollable religious fanatics, especially those that serve another master than me ... And what sane person enjoys that much vermin in his home - even worse, breeds it himself? (BTW, don't forget the costs of all that vermifuge they probably need ...) [/ul] At least the Jahksa lasted for a whole book, not only for at best three paragraphs ... And these guards you spoke of at least noticed there were enemies at large ... [/ul] Ever heard of a Faustian Pact? And, as you may have noticed, I had the upper hand in that one ... Else Agarash would have set foot on Magnamund a long time ago ... [/ul] Depends on the person I use as a template ... Want one modeled after you? The Wytch-King

Probably Cadak's youthful exuberance that needs an outlet. I seem to be the favoured target for that lately ... The Wytch-King

Jealous?
Hey, you're the one that has to spend eternity with Agarash . . . nothing to be jealous about.
Where is it said that I don't have such a bridge? Of course, whoever teleports in wouldn't encounter it ...
As I recall, that boy never had to leave your palace.
Far enough away? That boy didn't teleport in from the Isle of Lorn, in case you didn't notice ...
And fewer Shianti have a Moonstone (necessary for teleporting) than Kai lords have feet ...
It only took one Shianti with a Moonstone . . . and the Kai Lords are out of antidote; the Moonstone still exists.
They, at least, can carry a conversation ... and don't clumsily ruin my throne room ...
Why ruin your throne room when it would appear they're ruining your bedroom . . . if you catch my drift.
Better than a little forest beset by foes on all sides, brimming with incompetent fools that can't even do your work for you, scattered remnants of a used army, no merchants at all, no pet rebels to toy with in your spare time, and a scribe that cannot even flee if attacked by a stronger opponent ...
And of course I have no use for uncontrollable religious fanatics, especially those that serve another master than me ... And what sane person enjoys that much vermin in his home - even worse, breeds it himself? (BTW, don't forget the costs of all that vermifuge they probably need ...)
Uncontrollable fanatics? How's that campaign against the Freedom Guild going? And who's got piles of undead wandering around his "empire?" What's up at Karnali and the Port of Suhn these days? And could you even afford a scribe? Dead Shadakine warriors aren't trading as high on the exchanges as they used to . . .
At least the Jahksa lasted for a whole book, not only for at best three paragraphs ...
And these guards you spoke of at least noticed there were enemies at large ...
Well, it lasted an entire book in the Daziarn, which is about three words in the real world. You'd think a renegade Shianti would know that . . .
Ever heard of a Faustian Pact?
And, as you may have noticed, I had the upper hand in that one ... Else Agarash would have set foot on Magnamund a long time ago ...
Well, why don't you challenge him for control of your little pocket dimension? Let's see how that goes.
Depends on the person I use as a template ... Want one modeled after you?
Bring him on . . . *brandishes Hellstaff*
Cordially, Archdruid Cadak the Magnificent ;D

These posts are getting longer by the hour ... *Spoiler* Wouldn't be so sure about that anymore ... How about you, any plans yet how to escape Naar's domain? *End of Spoiler*had to leave your palace. [/ul] Well, when that Kai lord left your place, the damage was already done ... That falling bridge you're so proud about would have been nothing more than a petty revenge ... had it ever hit ... And you are out of Plague virus, as far as I recall ... ;D I shudder to think what uses you seem to have for that Exterminus ... As I said, these rebels are a pet project of mine. At least I don't have fanatics (worshipping another, at that!) as followers ... And undead are no worse than rats ... Better, I'd say, because they don't raid your pantry on a regular basis ... Karnali and the Port of Suhn my young steward (that boy with the Fool's Staff, who doesn't realize that, of course ) is taking good care of at the moment ... Which cities do you have, by the way? Oh, right, I remember, you got trees ... I'm fully capable of writing myself, dear Archdruid. Would you like a few lessons, perhaps? Dead Shadakine warriors can still pull their weight in guard duty and heavy work, though - rather tireless, especially compared to humans and rats ... But undead abound in your realm as well, don't they? So no quarrel there, I suppose. *Spoiler* renegade Shianti *End of Spoiler* would know that . . .[/ul] What would three paragraphs have been in the Daziarn, then? *Spoiler*
That I'll leave to another, I have no desire to rule such cramped spaces. Speaking of which, what about you? Interested? *End of Spoiler* Same as he would do ... Amicably, Thy Wytch-King edit: Added a few spoiler warnings for Grey Star 2 and 4!

You know, the Wytch-King could certainly supply Ruel with many rare (and poisonous!) herbs from Southern Magnamund, and Cadak would be a useful ally against boys with rocks and sticks! Threads like this make me glad I don't use a login name from the Lone Wolf books. Too many critics! ~Relenoir, who is preparing to be sent to the Darkling Room, the dungeons of Mogaruith, or both.

Nah, we Good folks simply get to mock the ineptitude of Evil on Magnamund. And us Kai get to chant
'Our master kicked your arse, three times, three times. Our master kicked your arse, three times today!'
at Cadak.
NOTE: I'm aware it wasn't three times in one day. I was taking creative license, and I haven't learn Bardsmanship yet. Shheeesh.

Argh yes, four times. We Kai need to learn mathematics it seems. I actually had forgotten about the second from last time, rather than the last one. Ahem.

We Kai need to learn mathematics it seems. Well, let's create a new skill for the Second Kai Order: Kai Mathematics. With this skill, we can now calculate rapidly, by judging of the distance between us and an ennemy, how long does it gonna take to be in reach of his sword (wich is 1 meter long, but you have also to add the length of his arm wich is 29.5 inches long) if we are walking toward him at a speed of 4 km/h and if the guy is running at a speed of 2 miles per hour in the opposite direction. Well, finally, I don't think it would be useful, since there is one sure thing: this ennemy is going to be dead in a few seconds.

I would say, in the vein of kai apprentices, there should be grey star's apprentices as well. In each book we either get to choose our char, or there should be a book for each publishhed separately. Oh and btw, IMO, dever should have started the new kai order with the kai apprentice starting out as a basic kai, not a grandmaster right from the bat! It took LW his entire life to attain gm status, and the new kai's only 5 years!

(except when the answer leads to the wrong section! ) ~Relenoir, who usually hates math.
