For what it's worth, I actually sat down last night and played some of my game (I've only actually *played* it a few times! I mean *really* played it). I played with the prodigy style, and decided to try and earn the 1st two awards in Book 1 (min and max combat). It was a blast! Took me about and hour to get both. I had to make deliberate choices that I had never made before in the attempt to either find a combat free path, or put myself intentionally in harm's way. It was a really fun experience!

You're going to either love the challenge or totally hate me for the low-combat award in book 3- a TON of luck and atypical choices are needed. It's almost as bad as beast hunting in that book.
Thinking about it, I will be developing one for each min and max combat for a campaign for 1-20, though I'm pondering how to best handle one for max combat in book 2, if one could actually be implemented rationally (as in expecting LW to actually survive it LOL)

Then I was extremely lucky I tried it only twice and got it... And I have put the kalkoth hunt aside for now :-P

You're right- for some reason I recalled a few more RNT picks dumping you places- nevermind.

I was up until 2 AM last night, programming in the new Hint system. It looks and works great. It will be included with the next bugfix release.

Wow, late nights for both of us, eh? LOL
Anyways, books 1-12 have the new hints and the stand-alone adventure "fresh start" awards have been shipped.

Another late night tonight, but good news: All of your new awards have been incorporated, all of the hints/ratings for book 7-12 have as well, and I even gave the whole thing (yes, ALL of it), an editorial once-over, fixing various typos (there weren't many - but even one is too many!) Anyhow, excellent work, kamikaze! To all : The 1.6.3 release is up - go download it and let me/us know what you think of the hint system! download page

Dave, you are amazing. I've never seen anyone work on a project as fast as you do: and all the help you give makes me know you're definitely passionate about it.
Keep it up - we all appreciate it!
For Sommerlund and the Kai!

Can anyone give me a hint as to how the hint system is unlocked? I've completed the Kai series on By the Book and Hardcore, and so far I don't see any hints except the default...am I not clicking the right place, or am I way off track?

I've completed the Kai series on By the Book and Hardcore, and so far I don't see any hints except the default...am I not clicking the right place, or am I way off track? It depends entirely on which award you are looking at. Each award has varying depths of hints. Some of them may have only one level of clues, if the information on how to complete it is given in its entirety in the first clue (Such as By the book and Hardcore medals). Which award in particular are you looking at? Also, you *do* have to click the faded medal image to bring up the hint menu. There is a "Prev" and "Next" pair of buttons on it. The tooltip for the "Next" button tells you whether or not this is the last tip for that medal, or what you might have to do to unlock the next tip. (Oh, and the hint system is only in version 1.6.3 and later. Check your version number in the "About" menu after the program starts up.)

The particular award I'm looking at is the third award in book one "Tempt fate where only your skills and a little luck will save you from the reaper". I have the latest version, and I've attempted to click on the medal silhouette.

So, when you click on the medal, you don't get a pop up like this? Have you tried clicking on the medals that you *have* earned? Are you able to see those hint trees? Or is it just not bringing anything up, regardless?

for Kamikaze: maybe (very minor) typo: book 2 "fresh start" award, in its description there is written "You earned this distinction among the Darklanders for your..." Shouldn't there be rather "Lastlanders"?

When I click on a medal I have earned, it shows the medal's image, a piece of flavour text (You have proved yourself trustworthy by your fellow countrymen by *spoiler*) and how I earned the medal. I think this is the same as the popup in 1.6.1 before the hint system. I'll try installing the full install of 1.6.5 instead of the update and see if that works.
EDIT: That worked! Thanks for the help. (I think I may have been accidentally playing with 1.6.1!)
