I absolutely love this map! It's some amount of work you've put into it but it's amazing!!!
By the way did you go with "Maaken Miner" because it's that in tCoD, or were you tempted to correct the spelling (if it is indeed a misspelling)?

I corrected the spelling Miner -> Mines. Recently is has been discussed in PA errata forum.

I'm currently thinking about unnamed and confirmed cities, or named, yet not confirmed ones. In book 7, section 12 is mentioned Sadzar, the slaver of Gzor. Since he has his pirate fleet operated in the Gulf of Tentarium (he attacked a ship near the Lio Island), it may safely be assumed that the city of Gzor belongs to Shadaki, and is located northward of the desolated wastes of Hol-da-Kiem. Also the map in the Magnamund Companion shows a minor city in this place, but it is not named. (Compare book 22 map and Magnamund Companion) Another city should be Gadorvo, book 18, section 299, as Baroness Coryene's residential city. It should be located between Luna (Palmyrion) and Orello (Caron). The Magnamund Companion also shows there an unnamed minor city. (Compare book 18 map and Magnamund Companion) Also, in book 10, section 7, the Eruan cities of Sharwhan and Testla are mentioned. However, there aren't cities in any map, that should be supposed to be those two. Only in the map in book 26, there is road from the city of Blent westwards. And finally, there are confirmed two cities in eastern Durenor (Magnamund Companion), but these are not named. So, if anybody (I hope JD is reading this ) could help to clarify this, I could update the map accordingly. Thanks

I'd agree on Sadzar and Gadorvo, but I got the impression from the Circle of Solaris that Sharwhan would be a small village in the forest, rather than a major town...
Aside from that, I'm really just guessing here. Unless someone could help you email your map to Joe Dever himself.........

Hi Honza. It’s a real shame for the maplover (and sometimes mapmaker) I am that I didn’t take time to congratulate you for this huge and excellent work! And I’m ashamed by something else regarding your map: I used a part of it to draw an historical map about Ulnarian expansion and old Durenor (including Cloeasia and Eastern Wildlands), and sent it to Joe last summer, as a member of Le Grimoire’s Background Team, and for the needs of a Durenor module ( Le Grimoire is the French LWRPG editor). We asked him some questions about the history of this Magnamund corner, and I made this schematic map to better illustrate which could have been the way Ulnarians settled on Magnamund (according to the dates Joe gave us). Of course, I mentioned the source, your name, and I’m sure Joe noticed it (and liked your work). But unfortunately, he didn’t write any comment about the map... or Le Grimoire’s director didn’t transmit us Joe’s comments if he did comments (we never contacted directly Joe, our questions were sent by Sébastien Boudaud “the boss”, and Joe’s replies were sent to us by Sébastien). I think too someone from this forum knowing Joe could send him your whole map, and sure he’ll find it fantastic!

About Dausar : Zorkraan suggests Dausar is a slovian city, because we discovered, comparing the MC political map and LW9 or 18 maps, that Slovia possesses a triangle territory between Anari and Vassagonia corresponding to the Dausar surroundings.

About Karkaste : that’s clearly a disputed city and territory between Magador and Lyris since centuries and centuries.
Zorkraan is true: it appears without any doubt as a Magadorian city on the MC political map, and the war between Karkaste and Helin during LW6 (confirmed in The Lorestone of Varetta) could be an interstate war instead of only an internal Lyrisian territorial conflict between Baron Maghao of Karkaste and Prince Janveal of Helin.
But as wrote Thomas Wolmer, Karkaste is said to be a Lyrisian city in LW16. And on LW18 map, the very western place where the word Lyris is written seems to show Karkaste is a Lyrisian city (the word even crosses the Storn, meaning Lyris, at this time, possesses some territories west of the river!). At last, LWRPG presents too Karkaste as a Lyrisian city, in the basic rules encyclopedia, and in Magic of Magnamund (and strangely in this supplement, as main Lyris cityport! Then in Le Grimoire du Magnamund, the french supplement including MoM’s translation, I totally changed the city’s description, presenting it instead as an “industrial” city).
Then, how to choose? First determining a date for the map. And if the date doesn’t help fixing some boundaries (as the one between Magador and Lyris), let’s create some background to justify a choice. Or ask to Joe (that’s something we could do if we can continue working with him, as we have too a huge Stornlands stuff for a future publication). At the moment, here is what we know : - MS5000: Karkaste is Lyrisian (source: August Hahn, LWRPG+MoM). - MS5050: Karkaste is Magadorian (source: Joe Dever, MC). - MS5058: Karkaste seems to be Magadorian (source: Joe Dever, LW6 + LLW LoV). - MS5076: Karkaste is Lyrisian (source: Joe Dever, LW16). - MS5077: Karkaste seems to be Lyrisian (source: Joe Dever, LW18).
Then we have more arguments to say Karkaste is generally Lyrisian. But there’s a last argument which could let think Karkaste is generally a Magadorian city: if you look at the roads on LW6, 16 or 18 maps (then at different eras, including eras when Karkaste is clearly Lyrisian), it can be seen that the main road conducing to Karkaste comes from Vakovar, and not from Varetta, sign of stronger links with Magador!

Well, not really... if you compare the "triangle" to other features at the same latitude, it seems like it actually covers Resa, not Dausar. (Which doesn't make much sense.)

But I think it is hard to choose a single timestamp, as we always have only a part of map known in each book's time.
And for the book maps, sometimes they are very uncanny. In book 25, I think the city of Cetza is still considered in Hammerlands territory. And for example in book 18 map, there is shown Dausar and Resa in Casiorn territory. And, surprisingly, Lovka and Choonova as Anarian cities. The city of Zaman is considered as Ogian? And Nadgazad is missing at all...
We have to choose the year, in which we have the best political information.

Just a thought, could anyone have a look at Mongoose edition books? What about the maps? Are they the same as in original editions? Or are they more rich in detail? And are maps also in novels? (Glory and Greed especially?) Thanks for information.

OK thanks, there was a confusion in my memory. What you say is true if you compare MC map and LW9 map: you find the slovian triangle I talked about, east of the Churdas, including Resa (look at map1, attached). Attachments:
