The collapsing bridge at the end of book 13! You survived to all the dangers of Morgaruith to end up being crushed by a bridge only a few meters away from safety. Just frustrating!

The rooftopping in Book 2. Your life and mission end here, simply because someone was either to careless to replace a loose tile or because they was too conscientious and freshly repainted a chimney!

... or because you were stupid and careless and tried to pull off a stunt without wearing a helmet.

NS. It is really rude how Joe Dever rains on your parade here. I mean, WOW! The Lord of the Kai, jumping rooftop to rooftop with his shimmering green cloak on, so heroic, bypassing all obstacles, then... REALITY TIME You die by falling 8 feet through a roof. I mean, that's just rude.

Well technically speaking, you're NOT the Lord of the Kai at this moment. You're just a partly-skilled Kai novice and the sole survivor of the massacre that wiped out the Kai. Realism would have a part in this...

I love the way that the whole falling-of-a-roof-and-going-SPLAT! business is completely irrelevant and only occurs if you choose not to complete the book by following the guy who takes you straight to the king. Mr Dever is one warped individual, which may explain why we all admire his work!

Well, sometimes Good just has to rely on others, hence the being helped out a lot sometimes (telling the knight the truth and following the guide in Toran etc). Then again, at least once, doing the righteous thing is actually the wrong thing to do (giving the Spear to Lord-Lieutenant Rhygar). But then, as should be the case, there are far more occasions that being kind, thoughtful and compassionate help the plot out.

Imagine my shock when he led me right to the throne room! Talk about thinking outside the box

Talk about thinking outside the box I actually had always done it this way, and only tried the rooftops method because LW had gone that way in Legends and I wanted to see what it was all about. Fortunately, I didn't go SPLAT!!! I will start a book over from the beginning if I die in it, like I recently did in Rune War. I also give myself a "save crystal" like in Final Fantasy VII (Zipp will know what I mean!). It gives me one opportunity to save during the quest, and I write down the entry number along with my supplies at the time. If I haven't used it yet and die, I still start over. If I start over, I do so as if I just finished the previous book (i.e. new gold roll, maybe a new Discipline if I decide to, new choices for equipment) and am beginning the adventure anew. Most frustrating death? That would be either stupidly going to the wrong town (you know what I mean!) or the Tekaro sewer maze, both in book 6.

Going to the wrong town annoyed the hell out of me! It was very unlike Dever, to trick us like that. You know, because generally his deaths aren't dead ends: by backtracking one choice you could avoid them. But the town led you on this grand escapade trying to get IN the town and then...
Relenoir, not only do I know what you mean, but I'm down with what you speaking.

Well, in Joe's defence, you HAD just humiliated a lordling who explicitly stated where he came from and what he would do to you if you ever came to his town. I think that that is at least fair enough. NS.

I've never made the going-to-the-wrong-town gaff, except for an excursion to see what happens. Isn't it the Bronin Warhammer you get at the creepy castle in Book 6? I'm not sure because I always go for the Silver Bow. As for the sewers in Tekaro, I don't think I've ever gotten it right without cheating

I believe it is the warhammer. I took that path for the first time my last playthrough.

As for the sewers in Tekaro, I don't think I've ever gotten it right without cheating I've goofed on the town twice: once when I first read the books and again when I reread them for the first time about eight years ago after having been away for 7 years or so. There is a method for getting through Tekaro without dying, which is (spoilers) Make sure to get the map. Use the opportunity to climb up and see the street from the manhole cover. It tells you how far away the cathedral is. The first chance you get to branch off, you have only gone part of that distance, so you don't want to deviate. Shortly after on the same route you get to the cathedral vault.

So, where do you need the map for? - Just head straight on. - It's easy!
