Jim: I'm still not happy with this report, Humphrey. Sir Humphrey: Then Minister we shall be happy to redraft it for you. Jim: You've redrafted it three times already. Bernard: That's not absolutely correct Minister. Jim: Yes it is Bernard I can count. This is the third draft report. Bernard: Yes quite so, therefore it has been drafted once and subsequently redrafted twice. Ah, Yes Minister *gets all misty eyed* They don't make 'em like they used to

Naar is the name in Islam for Hell, so not only is it borrowed but it actually is related, conceptually.

I'm surprise that nobody noticed that one: the capital city of Bautar is named Talon, which in English designates the claws of certain birds. In French, it also meens "heel".

Here's another one about Bor. Bor is a primordial Norse man, the son of Buri. He married the giantess Bestla, who is a daughter of the frost giant Bolthorn. Bor and Bestla had three children who became the first gods: Odin, Vili, Ve.

Perhaps a little off-topic, but this is just one reason why I loved Lone Wolf. Joe Dever created this world with a diversity of peoples and cultures, and you actually relate better when you consider some of them are reflective of Earth cultures as well. Bhanar had an African feel to it, while Chai of course reflects Asian culture.
I loved The Magnamund Companion and its introduction of the various places on Magnamund. Each book let you visit a different region and culture, and I'd have that companion beside me just to look for background information.
There was so much incredible potential. I always wondered what Joe might do with an adventure set in Chai: with the requisite equivalents of samurai, monks and ninja of course.
Being Asian I created a 'Chainese' Kai when the ERPG was going on, until it was pointed out that the Kai were drawn from the pool of Sommlending, so external cultures really didn't belong. Ah well....

Not quite: Bhanar is a Mythenish/Tianese nation, the same than Chai, so people must not be physically that different in these two countries. I know that you were probably thinking about that illustration that can be found in the MC where the Bhanar soldier looks like a Black man, but if you check the maps that can be found in gamebooks # 27 and 28, the Bhanarian soldier looks more Asian. There was so much incredible potential. I always wondered what Joe might do with an adventure set in Chai: with the requisite equivalents of samurai, monks and ninja of course. Book 28 is set in Chai, but I don't remember any ninjas or monks. There is a kind of Samurai though: the guards of the Emperor. Obviously, they're not called samurai, but I guess they are similar to them.

Indeed. I'm proposing a change to the text of the Magnamund Companion (if/when Project Aon release it) that alters "Bhanarian" to "Lissanian" in the caption on page 22, since the illustration more closely resembles the peoples of Lissan, such as Samu from the Grey Star books.
