I am just having fun with the way of the quail. I do like this book handles bow and other projectile weapons. Essentially one can shoot a number of projectiles before any battle. Each projectile has a specific damage, and a chance to hit based on the weapon. As example, to hit with a spear you need to roll less than 4 (W6) for 2 damage points. The number of projectiles before each battle ranges from 0 to 4 ( I think) and depends on the situation (0 if your enemy surprises you). One skill - stealth - allows you for additional attempts. You could translate this system to AS to give the bow a more natural use then the scripted way LW handles shooting. Way of the quail can be found and downloaded here : derwegderwachtel.jimdo.com/ - German only, but worth it, great romp.

I guess I could, but I've already used the Lone Wolf system in Books 1-2. It would be strange to change it halfway. But I have used the Bow in non-standard ways a few times.

Hey Oiseau. I'm an occasional lurker on this forum, and just registered to try to add to this discussion. Been a LW fan for a long time. I discovered the AS gamebooks sometime last year and ordered both books from Megara. Honestly, they're excellent. You did a great job there. I found this thread because I started looking for information about AS3. It'd be an instabuy for me if you make it available. Couple of other notes: 1. It's a shame you don't get royalties from Megara — not just for money reasons, but also because that would give you visibility into how many books sold. 2. Back to AS quality: it's better done than the LW Adventure Game from Cubicle 7. I like the LW Adventure Game, don't get me wrong, but the editing is atrocious. There's tons of bad layout, especially in the later supplements, and there's also tons of terrible grammar. I think one book even had paragraphs misplaced. Like no one proof-read the stuff before sending it to the printer. The AS books were polished and really fun to go through. I really think you got this. Illustrations are cool but optional as long as you deliver tight layout and editing. Maybe someone here who paints better than I do can contribute a royalty-free cover so it looks good on the shelf. So yeah. If it's even remotely worth your while, get AS3 out there, in English (since I assume more English-speaking readers are out there). If you can do so, put it up on Amazon US and UK so searches for "Lone Wolf" can surface your books with taglines like "new adventures in the wonderful world of Lone Wolf". I doubt you'll be able to retire on sales of these, but it'll be heaps better than nothing.

Update…
I've tried to get back into it, and I've managed to write a hundred new sections or so. By gathering all existing bits and pieces, I currently stand at :
Neige d'Automne 3 : 95% done Neige d'Automne 4 : 80% done Neige d'Automne 5 : 50% done
This in in French, and only includes raw section writing, not the finishing touches. English versions are at 0%, but it's simply a matter of translation once the original version is done. This could even be done collaboratively if some of you feel like helping.
I'm going for an all or nothing deal. I finish the whole Kai series this spring or I give up. No more years of letting it rot.

I loved playing AS1 and AS2 and I'm willing to help, I don't know French and sadly I suck at learning new languages (I tried french, german, and spanish and I failed miserably) but I'd be glad to assist. Best wishes to you and your works. Please let me know if there is anything I can contribute!

A similar format to the Megara one in the end would be great to have them sit next to each other nicely in the bookshelf.

That will be hard given that Megara is going out of business and may not publish anymore books. I recommend that Oiseau get in contact with Ben Dever to see if they could be published through magnamund.com. Would be a shame for them not to be in print.

Yes, good as well, although I do prefer the Megara large book format for gamebooks. Anyway, likely Megara will be out of business by end of February, hence I wrote "like Megara".

Superb news.
My French is fairly bad these days, though I can read it. I'm pretty good at proofreading and copyediting English, though, so if you want help with that, I can lend a hand. (And I'll still buy printed copies!)

Okay, fine. This is what I'll do. Just this once, I'll see if I can relight the old flame. Spring is usually my nostalgic time of year, so I should be able to draw at least something out of that. Plus, I went to a Chinese restaurant two days ago and got a fortune cookie that said "Others care about you more than you think", which was borderline creepy. A large part of what should turn into AS3 was published long ago in the Draco Venturus fanzine. I still have chunks of stuff from AS4 and AS5 lying around, plus a basically complete hors-série that's a whole 800 sections (was originally meant to fill a special issue of Draco Venturus between two official releases). All that in French, but if I manage to complete something, I'll translate it then. However: - No promises. - I cannot pay for Gary Chalk to illustrate, not out of my own pocket. - I've never run a Kickstarter before and I don't want to wade into these waters if I can avoid it. - I have no idea how to contact anyone anyway, neither Chalk nor Dever. So unless all you want are text-only Lulu paperbacks with generic cover art from Google Images (or recycled illustrations from the existing books), I'll need some help from the fans. Oiseau Excellent news. Keep us updated with how things go. If you need help, I imagine there would be many who would be willing to help.

March Update…
It's still going, although the struggle is real. Still can't shake the feeling I'm doing all this for nothing. But at least I'll have the complete series done.
Only thing is, even as I find myself questioning and second-guessing everything, my creative mind is going a bit crazy with the Cheez-wiz.
So, quick opinion poll: must a Lone Wolf fan-gamebook necessarily clock in at 350 sections to feel authentic? Because I'm looking at 480 per book right now, with the fifth one going even higher…
A. Go nuts. More Autumn Snow for us. B. No, they really should be limited to 350§.

A, for sure. Don't constrain yourself to what was likely an old publisher mandate.

A. Go nuts. More Autumn Snow for us. Awesome to hear you are still working on this! Have you contacted Ben Dever re: publishing all 5 through Holmgard Press?
