I am intrigued by the idea of an undead Donkey Kong. Would make a very interesting character in a campaign.
As for my influences, yes I have partaken in White Wolf, but that's not neccesarily where all my information is from. Most Vampire literature treats ghoulds the same way.
I always felt that D&D's ghouls were strange. Like, why can they paralyze?

Hey, those ghouls in the original FF could paralyze too! What a pain in the neck that could be! Stupid Ice Cave, stupid Sorcerers that kill you by doing 1-2 points of damage. Stupid floater stone. . . As far as not picking Lone Wolf as a name here, I thought of it a long time ago (almost a year now!), but decided to use my own 'identity' instead, seeing as Lone Wolf is, well, Lone Wolf, and I'm just. . . me! I never got to kill any Darklords. . . But I knew he'd show up here sooner or later! ;D

I think that the guy that took "Lone Wolf" as his handle must be pretty arrogant! I LIKE IT! Also why didn't I think of that? Ha ha, awesome!
"I'm Ghost Bear" "I'm Ronan"
"Oh yeah? I'm Lone Wolf!"
I mean, that just beats all.

Alright first we ransack the forums! Then we pilage the internet! Then we forage for leafy greens (cause we'll be out of provisions by that time)! The internet is filled with the emanations of the evil darklords! Half of these sites are in fact owned and operated by the Helghasts in disguise! We shall burn from their hiding! Smite them with righteous justice! May the gods of old be with us in our quest! If we do not return, may our children forgive our deaths and know that they were not in vain! Sommerlund and the Kai! Lone Wolf, and victory! If we may not peal the bells of victorious home coming, then let us go hand in hand to the gates of Naar himself!
To arms! To arms! For your children's freedoms! For your ancestor's honor! For Maganamund! Let not your arm stay in battle, let not your horse rear against the tide, fight for what you know is glorious! Fight and conquer! To arms, to arms!
With my dice mastery, we shall never fail our spot checks! Nor our attack rolls! With Sol's divination, we shall know the enemy before they know us! Bring the kai dogs! We go to war! Black Cat, I am assigning you rank and honor! You shall be both my war leader and my ambassador! A strange combination, yes, but one that is needed in dark times! Hurry, to prince Relenoir's, with a summoning and request that he lend his massive forces to our cause! Rally, rally in the name of the king! WE SHALL NOT FAIL!

Zipp, I think you're going a bit overboard there, buddy. But needless to say, I'm in! ;D ~Relenoir, who has been referred to as a prince among men (unfortunately, only sarcastically ), but never as a full-fledged prince. "How could I refuse after that compliment!" *Begins preparing his sword, typing fingers, a character sheet, and his favorite pair of dice*

Yes, our battle is slowly forming. Looks like I'll be obliged to make a campaign based on killing the internet forums. Think how much FUN that would be! They come built in with trolls, demons of flaming, powerful moderators, and fledgling newbies! Hordes of fledglings!
gaaaaah, it's been so long since I've done a pen and paper... does anyone here live in Eugene? Do you want to, like, come over and start a campaign? I'm in massive need of roleplay, since I didn't audition for any theatre this quarter...

Sorry, by the time I got there, it would be that dreaded word again: Monday! ~Relenoir, who is sorely lacking in RPG action for the last year or so, besides a game he runs himself, which is never as much fun as playing.

Hi! back to the forum after I managed to find my username and password in archived mail... I found that Dever's idea of "undead" is a bit personal... I don't get how the Akraa Neonor in Book 3 can have just been the animated corpse of a bizarre creature, looks like some necromantic experiment. Dever was really influenced by Tolkien (hey, he wrote the Pelennor Fields conversion for Warhammer 1st ed in the golden years of White Dwarf!) and it is possible that his idea of undead is similar to the Barrow Wights in Fellowship of the Ring: the undead are not actually the bodies of the goodly and noble Kings of Arnor, but some evil spirits which are summoned / crafted / bound by the Witch-King... and a Wight is normally catalogued as Undead. So those creatures fruit of Darklords' experiments which aglutinate an evil spirit into a dead or artificially crafted body (Vordaks, Helghasts, etc) would quickly qualify. The "evil spark" is actually the only way of animating the body (even if it carries no intelligence, like a zombie). Magnamund does not seem to have the concept of "neutral" necromancy (like Animate Dead in D&D): either there is some evil agency or a body stays dead. I don't remember any case of good ghosts or poor lost souls in the books, excepting the trapped souls in Naar's realm, but that's another plane, after all.

Sorry Zipp - I live too far away, too! But I bestow upon you the mighty blade called ModSlayer! It is a +9 CS against all evil mods and a +11 against the mediocre ones.
Andyr, I am afraid there is no such thing as neutral necromancy. If you are making the dead walk rather than allowing them to rest in peace, that's evil! Of course nobody ever thinks he's evil, but the fact remains: dealing with the living dead is about as it gets!!!
As for A'akraa Neonar (and undead Donkey Kong) perhaps Vonotar made him as a sort of a Frankenstein Monster - you know, bits and pieces of other creatures. This I think would count as undead, too - was dead, now walks... eh?

Any creature can be potentially undead (except spirits). I always assumed the Akra was an evil creature that just happened to be undead. No real confusion for me, really. I mean, just cause we don't look like that doesan't mean someone else does.
Becoming Undead is one path to immortality, that a lot of creatures choose.
