HERE WE GO....
This year, Holmgard Press embarks on the ambitious task it was born for - getting every single Lone Wolf book into print, in a format with a consistent look and feel. Something that has never existed.
32 books with cover art from Alberto Dal Lago.
32 books with Francesco Mattioli cartography.
32 books reviewed, revised & approved by Scriptarium.
32 books from a single publisher with consistent formatting.
And most excitingly of all - 32 books with original artwork from a single illustrator - Rich Sampson AKA Nerdgore.
Now, we understand many hardcore fans will scream 'Gary Chalk!' And he was, of course, the first choice. But we decided that our dream of a consistent 32-book series is important to us than nostalgia. Changing the artwork after Book 8 - creating another inconsistent series? That already exists. Gary is, unfortunately, unavailable to illustrate books 9-32. The task we have set ourselves is a LOT of work, requiring fresh energy.
We are still in touch with Gary, and a retro edition reprint of Flight From The Dark using original cover artwork and illustrations is not out of the question. But for now, and for this new series, we believe we needed something new - and we also think Rich's work in Dead In The Deep, and the original artwork that we begin teasing today - speaks for itself!
NOW THE FUN BIT...
We have been working on TWENTY full-page images that we deemed indispensable to the book. By the end of March, they will be complete, but there are TWENTY images left to create...
We want YOU to decide what they will depict.
Join our mailing list (www.magnamund.com) and we'll send you the list of twenty scenes already being drawn, along with details of how to join us in the process of choosing which unforgettable scenes should be depicted next!
But for now, let us leave you with the first of many teasers that we cannot wait to share over the coming weeks:
"A stranger, clad in red, standing in the centre of the track ahead. He has his back towards you, and his head is covered by the hood of his scarlet robes. Perched on his outstretched arm is the black raven that you saw earlier..."
