"Would it be possible for you to post or PM me your real name, please? It will be added to the Title Page of the document as a credit for finding the artist." Sure. I'm glad I could help.

Actually, I was referring to the dearth of un-contacted artists as progress! Yesterday we contacted Peter Parr, illustrator of the Combat Heroes series of books. He's now a lecturer in animation at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth (UK), but he seems to have very fond memories of working on the books. I guess since the Combat Heroes books are very visual, any Project Aon editions will once again be PDF rather than online, so I'll probably be the person working on them. I hope to clear my (PA) schedule over the next few weeks so as to have time to devote to these four books. More details as-and-when. So we're down to two--Laycock and Newton. Which of them will be the next to join us?

dearth: A scarce supply; a lack: “the dearth of uncensored, firsthand information about the war” (Richard Zoglin). So, 'the dearth of uncontacted artists' means that there is a shortage of artists left to contact - which is a good thing, and progress. No one died.

Oh, I thought the spelling was different on that word. I thought it was spelled dirth. It did cross my mind that this was what you could mean, but it made so much sense both ways... in a twisted sort of world.

I may have a lead on Trevor Newton. I'll check it out, and get back to the powers that be if it turns out fruitful.

Excellent news. I hope the lead pans out, since with Mr Newton's go-ahead, we can update the User License for the last time (since the chances of finding Ms Laycock are essentially nil).

I don't think so. Some time ago we attempted to contact a Trevor Newton who specialised in architectural illustrations, and received no response, so I guess this is the same guy. The guy on the website studied "The History of Art" at Cambridge and lectured at Eton. The guy we're looking for did some illustrations for a gamebook. If it's any help to anyone, the illustrator we're looking for probably also illustrated the "Animals of Farthing Wood" books, judging from the number of references to them any search for his name turns up. Regardless, I'll pass the site on to Jon and see what he says about it. Thanks, Doomy.

I came across this thread and, if I get it right, there's still one illustrator MIA: namely Jane Laycock. Sorry, if that's no longer an issue, but I did a little search and I found this: www.alibris.co.uk/booksearch?binding=&mtype=&keyword=Jane+Laycock&hs.x=0&hs.y=0&hs=Submit(if the link doesn't work, just go to www.alibris.co.uk and type 'Jane Laycock' into the search there) Look at the work titled 'Reflections for Daily Prayer: Pentecost to Trinity 12 12 May-16 Aug 08 Issue 3' - it was published in 2008 by Church House Publishing. So they might have contact to Jane. I can try sending them an e-mail, but, since English is not my first language, maybe someone else should formulate the message (so I don't upset spam filters or scare the guys at the publishing ).

Hi zut
Sorry for taking so long to respond to this. Everyone's busy. I suppose that's a good thing in view of the world economy and all, but it puts a block on PA activities. :-\
Thanks for taking the time to point this out to us. I've forwarded the information on to the PA mailing list, and we'll decide whether to pursue contacting Ms Laycock--after all, we did replace her work on The Magnamund Companion using a fancy calligraphic-style font. Either way, I'll get back to you when things have been decided.
Cheers!
