OK, sorry for being out of the loop. Blame Microcock and their fsking KB951748 stroke of genius. Bunch of wankers.  Ahem. Anyway, the be -> the is clearly a (ne) proofreading issue. (What sort of fool missed that during proofreading . . . ?) I've PMed you, and once I get a response, LHYS, I'll update the XML. Cheers! I've spent a day and a half trying to sort my computer out because of their stupid "Hotfix", and that was before I even knew what the problem was. I had the joy of System Restore, and now having to reinstall lots of software and updates. Of course, had I known I only needed to lower the security level of Zone Alarm to Medium, everything would have been fine. Except I couldn't get online to find out. |

Hi! You people have done great work, cheers to you and great many thanks for making one of my favorite childhood book series available! I've spotted a minor mistake, that I don't think it's mentioned before, on www.projectaon.org/en/xhtml/lw/03tcok/sect160.htmSecond paragraph, "each sledge is enough food" while it should read "each sledge has enough food". Keep it real! |

I don't think it is an error. The full sentence is "On board each sledge is enough food". The subject of the verb "is" is not "sledge" but "enough food". This is a case of inversion in which the verb is put before its actual subject. Without the inversion, the sentence reads: "Enough food is on board each sledge". |

Seriously! There's a reason that English literature is so highly regarded, and it's because in English you can say the same thing is so many different ways. Because English ripped off other languages wholesale, there are English words with ten or more synonyms, all with different linguistic origins. Metaphor and idiom are also surprisingly important in English, to the extent that sometimes we've forgotten the origins of a phrase, but we still know what it means! And anyway, most modern technical terms are English or English-derived (e.g. Internet; www (worldwide web); DVD). Of course, all this complexity does make it a total beeotch to learn; and it's even worse than that to learn how to use it properly! |

Lol, things like 'it's worse than that' being a standard phrase meaning 'the situation is worse', but of course if you read it from the outside, there's two subjects when you use 'it'. Madness! A madness I tells you! |
