I love the LW series as much as the next guy but I just can't get over the fact sometimes that Kai order is just a Jedi order without the sabers. I mean they have Kai disciples aka Jedi powers, they both are an order of fighting monks even the name sounds alike Jedi, Kai. now I'm not complaining I think both Sagas are amazing I was just wondering if anyone else thought about this.

I have definately seen this simularity. Think 'Mind over Matter'.

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that inspiration for both groups probably came from the Chinese Shaolin monks.

At times, when I unsheath the Sommerswerd, I expect to go "Hrummm... Hrummm".

Having a rather extensive D&D background, and being a bit of a Star Wars geek, I absolutely have to jump in on this one. If you want to see an old movie with samurai sword-fighting style, watch "The Seven Samurai". There is a ton of that swordfighting style in the Lucas films; this is because the form used by them is the same as used in Star Wars. The most appropriate one is the fight between Obi-Wan and Vader in the first movie; the rest have been a lot more "Hollywood-ized", but still use that basic root form. The Shaolin monks are also a strong connection. They seek to enhance the inner strength within themselves, chi (pronounced "key"), which enables them to perform feats beyond that of most humans. The chi could be considered "the Force" in Star Wars or the "wisdom and strength locked within" for the Kai Lords. Ultimately, many of the Disciplines/Jedi abilities have things in common. Most notably, focusing on a specific weapon, i.e. Weaponskill with x or Lightsabre combat, Telekinesis and Mind Over Matter/Nexus/Grand Nexus, Jedi Healing and Healing/Curing/Deliverance, and Jedi Stealth and Camouflage/Invisibility/Assimilance. In my opinion, the major difference is that the Force is everywhere, "it binds the galaxy together", whereas the Kai Lords abilities are within themselves and granted by Gods. The big major differences between the Kai and Shaolin monks are that the Kai don't shave their heads, and they use primarily medievel European weapons instead. The Kai always reminded me of a cross between a 1st edition AD&D Ranger and Monk with a little bit of Cleric thrown in.

Are you sure about healing and camouflage?most the power that I noticed are sixth sense (jedi can sense evil, sithlords, etc.),mind over matter (Telekinesis, clearly they move things with thoughts),as well as mind force (Only darth vader did this, didn't he?Just extent his hand and the person will feel the pain.) Of course, Sith Lord can also use Lightning Hand(Kai Alchemy) as Kai Grand Master could. Anyway, for me,a jedi master is no match for a Kai Master;Kai Lords are the best, aren't they? And the lightsaber is just a duplicate to the ancient magical weapons that glows with aura (Sommerswerd did glow if expose to sunlight.Lightsaber always glow, which solve the "no sunlight" problem, I guess ;D ) No offense,I'm not condemning Jedi Knights because I love their action, especially Yoda's fighting prowess, when combating Count Dooku. It's just that Kai Discipline is properly developed than that of Jedi.(may be a Kai Novice accidentally entered shadow gate which bound to the "Far,far away galaxy",and then develope Jedi skills by himself, who knows? ;D )

We see little of the healing abilities in the movies, but in the RPG and Expanded Universe there are many instances of Jedi using healing abilities. As far as Camouflage/Invisibility/Assimilance, how about Jedi being able to mask their minds and bodies from detection, and distract other's minds to make them look elsewhere for a hiding individual.Mind forces can take on many forms, not just pain like Vader used, as well as Luke in the beginning of RotJ against the Gamorreans. Seven words sum up another example: These aren't the droids you're looking for.Much as I love the Kai, I don't think this would even come close. Jedi have so many more weapons at their disposal than modern technology; besides, what can a Kai Master do against a whirling laser-blade that is attacking them on auto-pilot when the wielder is 50 feet away? Of course a Jedi would never fight in this manner, but the Sith. . .

Every medieval weapon would be simply vaporized against a lightsaber... maybe only the Sommerswerd could stand a chance...

Thanks! The Sommerswerd would hold up alright, seeing that it was made by gods, after all. Lone Wolf or Luke Skywalker circa end of RotJ, now that would be a match! LW vs. Yoda. . . gotta go with the little green man on that one!

Bah! You seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that the Jedi really exist. Everyone knows they're fictional! So therefore, the Kai would win. What?

Didn't anyone else notice that the plural of Jedi is still Jedi and that there should be no apostrophe there anyway??? (Deliberately doesn't mention the US spelling of sabre...)
