well the wildlands are also just desert type of thing, the darklands were previously lush until the darklords turned then into an acid and corrupted wasteland.... wildlands would just be... gardening, reclaiming the darklands is taking it back away from evil yes it was northen Cloesia... the wildlands got shaped by maakengorge etc...before that event it was grassland or alike... so reclaim wildlands should be to do irrigation or re-direct a flood or something... the land isn't poisoned as the darklands is.

The wildlands is stated as being poisoned by the toxins released from the maakengorge formation. Not sure why that should be worse than the darklands though.

I guess the Wildlands have been Wild for a LONG time then. The Darkland's corruption is relatively recent, if far more severe. Maybe the poison of the Wildlands is more entrenched & enmeshed in its essence....? I think a more plausible explanation is political/economic: That ex-Darklands territory becomes the undisputed property of the governments involved in 'cleansing' it, the previous tenants I assume to be evicted prior to the start of the geo-engineering, whereas the occupants of the Wildlands are not at war with Sommerlund & Bautar, so it would be more politically awkward to just throw everyone out. So we'd see some very wealthy Szalls all of a sudden, & an enquiry launched in Toran about why all the investments in magical ingredients & wizarding sabbaticals were yielding no returns. The Stock Market plummets, not even a Cloeasian Loan Shark will lend to wizards anymore, & in the ensuing economic crisis people start questioning whether the Darklords would have been So Bad after all. Take yr pick.

Also the wildlands works as a good buffer zone to Vassgonia and the south. And no one is looking to take the coastal land as a good port as potential capital just now - Lachlan having no real power anywhere it seems. I would have to agree with the political reasons!

Hey, HERE's a Haaaaaang on moment in Book 10.....
The currency of Anari is the Lune, yes?
Then why The Blazes do they give you a pouch of Gold Crowns.....? Maybe they're trying to make up for arresting me twice & attempting to hand me over to the Darklords. If that's the case they should find at LEAST 50gc. Or even better.... some Kika, being as I'm heading for Ghatan & all....

The currency "hang on" that always befuddled me was this: Why are all amounts and prices in Lune in multiples of 4 (I think there was an exception with arrows costing 2 Lune), and Kika are always found in multiples of 10? Do people always carry amounts of Lune/Kika that equal a whole number of Gold Crowns, or is it just a huge coincidence?

My bet is the Lune/Kika is simply a means to keep you from having to deal with multiple currencies. But yeah, strange in terms of its reality! Most definitely one of those instances where game play trumps immersion.

Ghatan sounds book 10ish :-) ? ah you mean the money the give before you start book 10? isn't it Banedon who equip you? Anyway The Senator in Anari knows you are Sommerlenning and I'm sure they got some Gold Crowns in Anari so they can give you that... But if They know their future depends on you they could for sure give 50

To be honest, the stinginess of people equipping you has ALWAYS been one of the more bizarre elements of the books-
LW Can I have another Meal please, Rimoah?
Lord Rim Come on Skarn, play fair, you've already had a Quiver, Rope, Laumspur, a Meal AND 3 Fireseeds! What if EVERY saviour started demanding 6 items? Are you going to explain to the last one in the line why we've got nothing left in the stores because Mr Greedy Wolf couldn't get by on 5? Hmm? Going to write to his king & explain why their people are doomed to slavery now because their hero starved on the first leg of his journey? Hmmm?!
LW You've got loads there, LOOK! In fact, can't you give me some more Fireseeds now, I just know you're going to suddenly 'find' another 3 before my next adventure...?
Lord Rim Take, take, take... that's all you ever do, you 'Saviours' nowadays. Back in Sun Eagle's day he provided his OWN horses & his OWN weapons, if he got a couple of Fireseeds he couldn't have shown more gratitude. He certainly didn't expect us give him Handouts of Gold Crowns, on top of all the free food! No wonder things have gone downhill....
LW He was a Bar..... look you know what; take yr Meals & yr crowns & yr Fireseeds & shove em up yr Chasm of Gorgoroth! I'm sure I can find a few people to murder & loot on the way....

What happens to Bracer, the strong but less exceptional mount, that LW accepts to ride instead of Storm, his fine Slovarian stallion, in book 16: ltov.
During the plot Bracer is left in the woodland, never to be heard of again.
Now I have yet to progress beyond book 16, but it seems so odd that a couple of horses are named in this book, and none have been named up to book 16.
Did Bracer ever find his way back to the monastry? I feel so sad for him?

I remember reading somewhere that the various deep chasms in Magnamund are scratches made in it by Naar.

Compare the road continuing on the other side. The map suggests the road predates the chasm... The Chasm was obviously already around by the time of Ulnar 1 so the road... predates that... what we know somlending moved to sommerlund area and sent darkland horfed packing vashna reattacked some years later and was killed by ulnar and vashna fell into the gorge after being..... "lured by ulnar" so if the road was sommlending it had to have been built between those 2 times which also gives us some idea of the gorge creation..... of course this is assuming the road was created by the sommlending..... wasn't the ruins above herbwarden or something? so the road called be an ancient road created by them.... but then... I'd image there wouldn't be much of it left..... so I'd say it's probably sommlending So
