Preorders for 1-3 DE in paperback will open on October 1st. linkErrr... Paperback of book 1 DE will be the original version, not the extended one: linkI am rather disappointed with the decision. I am saving my money to get more CE28 instead!! Just like the Ukraine war picture which has 300 limited runs, CE28 is much sought after!!

Has there been any explanation given for the change? The hardcover LW1 DE was my first time playing the extended edition, I really enjoyed it. I’ll probably use the extended version in most future playthroughs, would be great to have a paperback copy. On the other hand, it will be nice to have a new copy with Gary Chalk’s illustrations.

Now, there is no difference between red fox and DE softcover. With red fox 1-28 and CE28, I will not be collecting DE for sure.

Now, there is no difference between red fox and DE softcover. It is a "Definitive Edition" of the original version, so they will probably twist some stats, add some stuff, change bonuses just like they did with the DE version of the extended version compare to the CE of that same book. It won't be exactly like the original Red Fox, but it is indeed surprising for not clearly announcing that it is not the Extended version.

October 1 update sounds like a big one. Preorders for DE 1-3 paperbacks and…? Shipping date for CE 28? Pre-order for DE 6-8 hardcover? Launch of the Lone Wolf podcast? Some other holiday surprise???
…Is it October yet?

Most probably all of that except for book 8 DE. Why I am saying that is because the French publisher plans to re-release books 6 and 7 in January and they are based on the DE versions. Also, I seem to vaguely remember that Holmgard Press once said that the next ones to be released are going to be 6 and 7, not 8 yet. I just can't remember where I saw that.

Pre-orders are opened for the paperbacks of books 1-3 but only on Amazon, with shipping on November 1st. However, it is not possible to pre-order through magnamund.com. Paperbacks of books 4-5 are coming February 1st. link

Have to say, I was hoping for more of an update than “just kidding about pre-orders, go buy it on Amazon.”

Have to say, I was hoping for more of an update than “just kidding about pre-orders, go buy it on Amazon.” Me too but what I hate the most is that they have deleted the Facebook post they've made at the beginning of September regarding pre-orders. From a PR point of view, it looks as if they were trying to hide something. If something you said was going to happen but it did not, just be honest about it and say it didn't work and edit the original post if necessary, but don't hide it. There's currently a post of the official LW Facebook page by August, saying among other stuff that the podcast will be released in November. However, the first version was saying that the podcast was coming this month. I prefer an edited post like this one over a deleted one.

I haven't read the FB post, but couldn't he have been referring to episode 1 being released in November? iirc all that's supposed to some out this month is episode 0, which is supposed be like a five minute pilot introducing us to the main cast of the show.

The original portion I'm refering to: "A brief introductory episode will be available very soon and the first full episode will release near the middle of the month." The modified version: "A brief introductory episode will be available early in November and the first full episode will release near the middle of the month." Bold is from me. The official website still mentions the release of the podcast for October.

I believe they've already stated that most of the early episodes are recorded; I imagine the reason for the delay is wanting to stagger podcast episodes so that they arrive closer to the books. Maybe the DEs of 6-8 are having some difficulty, resulting in the podcast's delay? I'm guessing that the podcast is mainly a marketing vehicle for the reprints, so that would fit. btw, what do you think the podcast will discuss? I'm hoping for a section on any behind the scenes stuff, if they can find anything. Discussing the differences between the original prints and the DEs would be interesting too I think, and I'm sure half the discussion of FotW is going to revolve around the SS and balance. What do you think?
