Well, we're now well into June with no refund and no communication of any kind Anyone else still waiting? Still waiting, but on the plus side, I've reached the Grand Mastery level of Thumb-twiddling. I need no longer concentrate to twiddle my thumbs, in addition, I can sense the presence of other thumb-twiddlers within 100 yards or influence another individual in line of sight to start thumb-twiddling. ;D

Oh dear. I am merely spectating on this, as I was way too broke when this "megadeal" was announced to partake of it.
When the Mongoose guy claims they "can't refund you all at once, because there's so many of you!" this only serves to hammer home how much of your money they took up front! What have they done with it all?
Is their company still in business? At what point do you have to take legal action against them to recover your money? Oh my....
I seemed to be a bit of a lone voice in this opinion, but I never felt what they were doing was entirely ethical in the first place: they were using Project Aon's text of the books, produced by dozens of volunteers putting in many hundreds of hours working for free since the late 1990s, and trying to commercially exploit that as a product. ... in any case, they've spectacularly failed in that exploitation.
Good luck to everyone trying to get their refund.

Just because it probably belongs here too..... As one of the original Megadeal customers (who paid up about £300 plus another £30 for post & packing for all the books before te Megaldeal became reduced in size) I was disappointed to find out that Mongoose would not be publishing the Lone Wolf series any more. I must say I wasn't surprised. Released ahd slowed to a crawl. Obviously something wasn't working so the license being pulled was predictable. I was surprised to not be informed about it at all. One day I thought "you know what? I'll go and check the Mongoose forums to see if there's any more news on what's going on with Lone Wolf" only to find there wasn't a Lone Wolf section on the forums any more. So I did a bit of searching and eventually found out that they'd stopped producing the series a few months back and not told any of us megadeal customers. No courtesy email, nothing. I suppose if I'd been checking the forums a bit more I would have noticed sooner but the growing delays between releases had eaten into my willpower and I'd got used to expecting nothing from a forum checkup. I then came across the fact that Mongoose had basically ditched support for (almost) all the roleplaying games that they produced and were moving back to wargames. Unfortunately the wargames that they produce don't really appeal to me so I could ask for a load of free stuff that I don't want. I could try to sell it second hand and I'd sell some then just get left with a load of leftover stuff and my house is very full of toys and games as it is. So I sent Matt Sprange an email (as per his forum post) on 27th March explaining the situation and suggesting that since I essentialy paid for 38 books (including the novels) and received 19 books (again, including the two novels that actualy did get printed) then perhaps a partial refund would make sense. Asking for all the money would just be greedy. I did not mention a specific ammount of money but I feel that I made it quite clear that half the books had been received. I haven't heard back from him since. Not once. No reply. I am not happy about this but there's probably not much I can do but sit back and wait. The worst part is that now that Cubicle Seven's going to be publishing the rest of the books I'm essentialy going to have to pay for them twice. And money aside that jars with my sense of what righteous justice should be like. At least I get to make a post here for those of you who share my plight to know that you are not alone. I should probably go and remind those of us who used to ahng out at Tower of the Sun that I've finally registered an account here too. There may be fond reunions. Still not happy about feeling ignored by Mongoose 'though.*Feeling doesn't mean being. I was careful with the wording there but over three months waiting for a reply feels bad.

My answer probably also belongs here too:
there are two simple things you can do
1. (If you live in the UK) contact your local council's Trading Standards dept.
2. (If you paid for the megadeal by credit or debit card) contact your card issuer.

(By the way, if you paid by Paypal, they also have a dispute resolution service. It is very much weighted in your favour: i.e. you say "I paid this amount of X number of books, they've flunked it and only sent me Y books, I'd like a pro-rata refund please", and if Mongoose IGNORE PAYPAL.COM LIKE THEY IGNORE YOU, Paypal generally just settle in your favour as the "retailer failed to defend the case".
Come on people, stop letting a company walk all over you!!

For many of us, we paid for the Megadeal in summer 2007 - Paypal generally won't cover purchases including installment or subscription purchases, six years later.

Have you raised it with their dispute resolution service? Mongoose are still trading and still have an account with Paypal. It makes no legal sense to say that a 6 year contract cannot be disputed because it was originally made, erm, 6 years ago. Imagine if that kind of logic applied to mortgages. "I'm sorry NatWest, I know you lent Mr Smith £250,000 to buy a house and he agreed to pay you back in installments and now he's stopped, but you lent him the money 12 years ago! So it's just tough, I'm afraid! ;D "

Without wanting to come across as confrontational Feline1, you've made your point, I doubt any UK customers are in any doubt about what they *can* do. What I do think is most of us have already decided *what* we're doing. As you don't have any vested interest in the situation you're starting to come across a little bit Troll-ish... While it's nice to know people care about the situation, I do feel you're a little bit *too* angry for someone who doesn't have anything invested.

I'm not angry, just rather exasperated. Contrary to your assessment that "I doubt any UK customers are in any doubt about what they *can* do. What I do think is most of us have already decided *what* we're doing, I read half a dozen different people post on here that they *didn't* know what they could do, other than "be patient". Which is not the case - so at the risk of turning into Lynn Faulds Wood, I've made a point of supplying some consumer info.
I do not come on these boards to troll - as you can see, I've been on them since 2004 (and the mailing list since 1999 (?)) I just never read this 'Lone Wolf Future' section until last week, and had been unaware what kind of stunt this company had been pulling on fellow initiates.
And let's be clear: Project Aon is volunteer project, with many people giving hundreds of hours of their time over a decade and a half out of the goodness of their hearts. Mongoose isn't: it's a company in business to make money. I don't know why we're cutting them so much slack here! Joe Dever obviously sent them packing....
