Maybe was Zakhan's orb designed by Nadziranims as protection against Sommerswerd. Or: Darklords are known for they often battle each other for power, so maybe it's easier for dark weapon (Dagger of Vashna) to penetrate dark force field.
OMG, my english is going worst day by day...

Well, I don't have a problem with the Zakhan being stronger if one uses the Sommerswerd. But why the hell is Lone Wolf unable to use any other item/weapon against him if one only possesses the SW - It must be cursed!

I'm having a hard time believing that the Darklords would get rid of a magic item that protects against the Sommerswerd. This is especially difficult to believe considering the Darklord in question is Haakon, who only became Archlord of Helgedad after Lone Wolf murdered the hell out of Zagarna with the Sommerswerd in Book 2. Something tells me that Haakon would be more inclined to have the Orb of Death surgically implanted inside of him, instead.

Kinda like checking out a library book, except it's a library of evil magic items.

It was a trade--the Orb of Death for Lone Wolf. This is actually a pretty dumb move if the Orb of Death is proof against the Sommerswerd, as the trade guarantees that you're giving up the item that protects against the Sommerswerd for the only person in Magnamund packing a Sommerswerd. That's like trading the antidote for the poisoned donut.

Nor was the Brotherhood for that matter, tossing him into the traversible pits of hell, so to speak. But on this one, I'm sort've with Dusk Fox. I personally think Haakon intended to kill Kimah and take back the Orb of Death once Lone Wolf was good and dead. At the same time, doesn't Haakon use a similar Orb of Death against Lone Wolf? It does [nuts], if you recall.

Haakon was using some magical jewel of sorts, rather than an orb...but both seem to have the same magical blue fire signature - blue flame/light. The Haakon's bauble seemed less powerful though LW seem to know what to do with it, if you know what i mean.

Wow~~ So you've spent your distilled alether. Then what about CM and Deathlord? I would rather spend distilled alether for CM and Adgana for Deathlord, well at least I haven't consumed any Adgana before the effect won't be that much *sigh* To be honest, I'm not all that worried about the Deathlord or the Chaos Master. We'll see how that goes when I get there. When I get to the Chaos Master, I'll have another Lore Circle completed, and the Deathlord has never really been much of a problem for me (though I'll have Adgana if I need it). Chaos-master is not a tough foe, when you reach Book 11, you have sufficient skills to defeat him. It is the painfully long sequence of combats after him that will eventually kill you, when I fought the last opponent, my EP was single-digit. Deathlord is deadlier than Chaos-master, but if you have enough EP, you should be able to kill him (you need some luck). Zakhan Kimah is AN ERROR in the book!!!

My advice for killing Kimah is this:
LEAVE THE SOMMERSWERD AT HOME.
TAKE THE DAGGER OF VASHNA.
THROW THE DAGGER OF VASHNA THROUGH HIS HEART.
There aren’t too many tough battles in this book. Trust me, you’ll hardly miss the ‘swerd.

. . . including Joe Dever in one of the Lone Wolf Club Newsleters, so I suppose it's kind of valid to repeat it! Welcome to the forums, Brumalmarc.

Remember book 2? You guys know the fight I`m talking about, the dreaded Szall #2 from FotW... Too bad you can`t have Alethar or Adgana there.

The main thing I remember from Book 2 is getting shafted if you don't have the Magic Spear or having Animal Kinship to deal with the Noodnics.
