I did it! I took Zakhan Kimah out fair and square! I used every single rules-abiding ability available to me, but I did it. Now forgive me while I brag about it, because I killed him on the first try--no do-overs, no mulligans, no blatant cheating.
It was his CS 44 E 50 versus my CS 42 E 40--odds are against me, but it's not a total landslide. Here's the breakdown.
CS 19 to start (okay, so I didn't roll that, but it's possible playing by the rules, so it's not totally cheating).
Weaponmastery Sword +3
Lore-Circle of Fire +1
Lore-Circle of Spirit +3
Sommerswerd +8
Silver Helmet +2
Shield +2
Leading up to a total CS of 38, at which point I took that distilled Alether I've been leaving back in safekeeping but took along with me on this adventure. This may sound like convenient thinking, but to be honest, I took all the Alether I had left on this mission, not just the "good stuff." For some reason I thought there were more tough fights in this adventure.
For Endurance, I had...
E 29 to start (we've been over this).
Lore-Circle of Fire +2
Lore-Circle of Spirit +3
Chainmail +4
Padded Leather Waistcoat +2
So grand total of CS 42 E 40 for the duration of this fight.
According to the Combat Results Table, a 3 is the "break even" roll, and a 4 is the perfect ratio (meaning that we lose an equal 10% of our E if I roll a 4). Anything better than a 4 is a net win for me.
It took nine rounds, but in the end I had 11 E left, and Kimah had -7 (I hit him with a solid 9 for the killing blow). All numbers rolled by the LWAC random number roller.
It was the toughest fight I'd had thus far in my replay of the series, but honestly... what's the big deal?
